Bio

Joshua MacNamara brings over 30 years of business ownership and management experience to his legal practice. Licensed to practice in North Carolina, California, and in multiple federal courts, Josh represents clients before administrative agencies and courts, including the IRS, NC Department of Revenue, and U.S. Tax Court.

Josh helps clients navigate complex commercial workouts, restructurings, and compliance matters to avoid bankruptcy proceedings, and works toward providing tax and financial relief, while always aiming to resolve controversies in a non-contentious manner.

With extensive experience in business and real estate, Josh has navigated federal, state, and local government agencies, GSA leasing, lender compliance, and vendor issues. He has worked with private equity, lenders, borrowers, and REITs, managing real estate portfolios and implementing strategic plans to maximize market share and profitability.

Josh has also handled complex commercial transactions, including purchase and lease agreements, and managed over 3.5 million rentable square feet of Class A & B space. He has supervised build-to-suit projects, tenant improvements, and infrastructure constructions for landlords and the GSA.

In addition to his legal practice, Josh has served as a court-appointed receiver in a national multi-family mortgage fraud and insolvency case, working with federal prosecutors to address civil and criminal wrongdoing.

Originally from New York, Josh grew up in Texas and later worked professionally in New York's "Silicon Alley" during the dot-com revolution. His career eventually led him to North Carolina, where he now resides with his wife and dogs. A creative problem solver and entrepreneur, Josh enjoys cooking, grilling, playing music, and exploring the outdoors as an amateur mycologist.
